We had a pretty productive float run in december, managing to raise over £2500 despite losing a week to the bizarre weather. The snow helped to make the sleigh more special for the kids and although we missed the last week due to the conditions, the residents of Maidenhead were as generous as always and helped make the Christmas season start in a special way.
Once again thanks to Phil Whitaker Cars (www.pwcars.co.uk) for use of a towing vehicle and to Copas Farms for storage.

we went to see Paul Merton's improv chums at the Wycombe Swan, an excellent table night which was hysterical in places due to the standard of the comedians on stage and also the unscripted format of the show. It's not everyday that someone has to guess that their job is painting marmite on twiglets for the British Army using a moustache (all while being in an igloo of course) The show was around an hour and a half long and ranged from genius to ridiculous. Well worth a visit and the members then went to visit a local hostelry to discuss and relive the funnier parts. It has certainly given some ideas on how to spruce up the formal meetings! |

During the table year 2008/2009, once again Maidenhead Round Table has helped local charities and worthy causes with funds raised primarily from our Christmas Float activities. Santa and his helpers have assisted amongst others: Daisy's Dream, Thames Valley Adventure Playground, Family Friends and Little Fishes Pre-school. Our fund-raising activities with the float owes a debt of thanks to Copas Farms and Phil Whittaker Cars for the provision of storage and a towing vehicle at no cost to Round Table. This has enabled us to maximise our contribution to the community. |
